Zend Framework Rewrite with 1&1 Web Hosting
If you plan to host your Zend-based web-application on a 1&1 ( 1and1 / 1und1 ) server, you should consider the two following special features in the .htaccess-file:
- The first one is to define the RewriteBase for your project which is simply the root directory /. Otherwise you will get an HTTP error 500 (or something like that).
- And the second one is to disable the Multiviews option. Otherwise you will get the HTTP error 404 (or something like that).

PHP5 is not enabled by default. So that’s why I inserted the AddType and the AddHandler statements at the beginning.

MySQL vs PostgreSQL
Am inceut acest articol demult si nicicum nu puteam sa-l finisez.
Imi era interesant care din aceste 2 SGBD-uri(Sistem de Gestiune a Baselor de Date) este mai bun. Ambele sunt gratuite. Cautind prin net am gasit o compararea atuturor SGBD-urilor pe wikipedia, iata link-ul. Din propriile observatii PostgreSQL are posibilitati cu mult mai mari decit MySQL.
Desigur pentru o aplicatie de proportii mici si mijlocii, perfect este MySQL-ul, e usor de instalat si utilizat. Din alt punct de vedere sunt multe companii ce au aplicatii mari si pastreaza date sale pe MySQL. Consider ca ar fi bine de ales din start un SGBD cit mai performant daca consideri ca aplicatia ta va evolua in una mare sau foarte mare.

Trackerd process problem on Ubuntu 7.10
After I upgraded my Ubuntu 7.04 to 7.10, appeared proces called “trackerd”, that is eating a lot of processing computer power. I resolved it by disabling this process:
Go System>Preferences>Sessions and uncheck the Tracker entry.
After a little research I learn that trackerd is a background process that indexs files for quicker searches.
